Cu scopul de a oferi mixul perfect de putere si cuplu, Yamaha a renuntat la preconceptiile legate de capacitatea cilindrica a motorului, considerand ca principalele doua categorii de pe piata, 1000cmc si 600cmc, sunt impuse de considerente competitionale, precum participarea in campionatele de Superbike si Supersport.

Astfel, inginerii Yamaha au ales o capacitate cilindrica de 779cmc pentru a oferi combinatia perfecta dintre performanta accesibila a unei motociclete de 600 si cuplul instant al uneia de 1000, mult mai potrivita pentru folosirea pe drumurile publice.

Motorul cu 4 cilindri in linie dezvolta  106cp la 10.000 rpm si un cuplu generos de 82Nm la 8.000 rpm

Suspensia este asigurata de o furca inversata de 43mm si un amortizor Monocross cu parghie in timp ce franele fata sunt asigurate de etrierele monobloc cu 4 pistonase si discuri de 310mm, ABS-ul fiind disponibil optional.

Pentru extinderea capabilitatilor si imbunatatirea aspectului, o gama larga de accesorii este disponibila pentru noul FZ8,: parbriz, capac monopost, spoiler motor, suport topcase, topcase de 46 de litri, geanta interioara pentru topcase, mansoane incalzite, manere pasager, cric central, ornament radiator, protectii motor, suport de numar cu design deosebit, tankpad, semnalizatoare cu led si rucsac de rezervor.

Noul naked Yamaha FZ8 este disponibil in trei culori: Yamaha Blue, Competition White si Midnight Black.
