Everything about the Xenter 125 is easy - from the ultra-spacious flat footboard and easy-to-push design, to the confident, stable braking provided by the Unified Braking System. Completed by a sleek, modern design, and economical fuel consumption, it's an accessible yet powerful way through town.
Punchy acceleration and easy riding The new Xenter scooter is a high-wheel scooter that slots neatly into the lives of busy, fun-loving city dwellers, from executives to students. Its design is compact and has an extra-low centre of gravity, making it extremely easy to ride, for first-time buyers and more experienced riders alike. The Xenter family offers a choice of engine size: the Xenter 125 is an ideal 125cc city runabout, designed to handle even the roughest, cobblestone city streets, while the 150cc version, Xenter, has that additional punch for journeys on highways and ring roads. As well as delivering smooth, fast-paced riding – thanks to a low-vibration engine and super-responsive Monocross suspension – the Xenter is ultra-easy to park. Its design allows the rider to easily walk the scooter into a tight parking spot. Also incorporated is the new Yamaha Unified Braking System, for confidence-inducing braking and control. The key feature of the high-wheeled Xenter is a set of large front and rear 16-inch wheels, which produce an outstandingly stable, comfortable ride. These large wheels are fitted with new, custom-designed tyres for outstanding grip and abrasion resistance. A 5-spoke wheel design emphasises a look of lightness. Every aspect of the Xenter is designed to work in harmony with this high-wheel design. A new high-wheel engine and the Yamaha anti-vibration principleOn congested, challenging city streets, comfort and handling are key. And an exceptionally smooth and speedy ride, with rapid, traffic-beating acceleration, is the hallmark of the high-wheeled Xenter. Commuters enjoy a smooth, hassle-free route through the traffic thanks to Yamaha’s exclusive anti-vibration principle. This combination of frame, suspension and engine mounting system delivers great performance on uneven surfaces and the kind of agile, responsive ride more often associated with a motorcycle. It all starts with a totally new liquid-cooled, Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC), single-cylinder 4-valve engine with continuously variable transmission (CVT). Several advanced vibration-reduction technologies and techniques have been incorporated in the engine, including the use of lightweight forged aluminium piston, ceramic-coated cylinders and a single-shift balancer. Cumulatively, these help to dramatically reduce engine vibration – which in turn means that the engine could be mounted onto the chassis using a motorcycle-style progressive pivot mount. This mount offers the exceptional level of unity between engine and chassis that forms the basis for the smoothness and handling stability of the Xenter. Additional benefits of vibration reduction are increased efficiency and enhanced environmental performance. This is aided by a highly effective fuel injection system and new control map – a combination which also delivers smooth, rapid acceleration. Motorcycle-style Monocross suspensionEvery rider knows – sometimes all too painfully – about the obstacles that a city can present: from heavy traffic to speed bumps, cobblestone lanes to tram tracks. The high-wheeled Xenter has been designed to let even new riders face such obstacles with ease. It’s been equipped with motorcycle and TMAX-style monocross rear suspension, for exceptional cushioning against unexpected bumps and jolts. Carefully positioned in the chassis to centralise mass and assist handling, the spring has two levels: a finer pitch that absorbs initial shocks and a larger pitch, for stronger shocks; meaning optimal cushioning against big and small obstacles alike. Sitting longitudinally along the chassis, the vertical up and down motion of the wheel is redirected lengthways, enabling 92 mm of wheel travel and avoiding twisting, for a comfortable, confident ride. Furthermore, the absence of a conventional shock means the scooter has a visibly sleeker and more dynamic rear look. Ergonomic and comfortable, with an ultra roomy flat footboardStop-start city riding is a lot easier and more comfortable when a rider – male or female – has easy ground access. The Xenter’s ergonomic seat makes it easy for riders of all sizes to reach the ground with their legs, as well as manoeuvre the scooter in and out of tight parking spaces. A compact engine – with elliptical silencer and side-mounted radiator – has been integrated into the lightweight frame to allow for maximum footboard space, the largest in the category. Uniquely among scooters, the frame uses a twin tube design, which has also been shaped to allow a near-flat, upright front panel, with ample space to hang a bag or other items from a convenient front hook. A further novel design twist is the all-new glove box, situated at the centre of the handlebars, which can be opened with a single touch. The centre stand is extremely easy to use, with no need to lift up strongly on the handlebars when parking. And the upright handlebars further encourage a relaxed seating position for riders of all sizes. Confidence & powerful braking with Unified Braking SystemIn heavy traffic, staying in control is vital. That’s why the large 16inch wheels at the front and back are fitted with specially developed, grippy tyres. Using an optimised rubber compound and a new tread pattern, the tyres provide outstanding roadholding and are extremely resistant to wear and tear. For braking confidence, a large, 267 mm front disc brake is complemented by a 150 mm rear drum brake. The Xenter also benefits from Yamaha’s unique Unified Braking System, which automatically compensates for braking imbalance between front and rear brake, delivering enhanced braking control whatever the riding conditions. Sculpted, organic styling Yamaha’s Xenter scooter is not just about performance, convenience and comfort: it’s also big on style. The seamless, smooth, sculpted bodywork flows organically, to create a modern, light high-wheel design. Different overlapping materials have been used to create interesting textures and shapes, signature twin headlights provide a distinctively Yamaha touch. Five pairs of spokes look stylish, light and solid and emphasise the compact style of the scooter. A high-tech, futuristic-looking instrument panel including a digital LCD meter provides vital ride information as well as the time, air temperature and handy maintenance reminders. The comfortable seat is equipped with a grab bar and footrests for passengers, and storage space under the seat provides plenty of room for small items, such as rainwear or an anti-theft lock. For added rider safety, the tail light uses LED technology – producing a brighter, tougher and longer-lasting light than a traditional lamp. Designed to be versatile, Yamaha Genuine Accessories fit seamlessly with the scooter. The standard rear carrier provides a seamless attachment-point for an optional 39L top case, with no mounting plate required: designed to hold a full face helmet, this colour-matched top case can be opened using a dedicated key or optional ‘one-key operation’, which uses the same key as the Xenter itself. An optional medium-high windscreen can be mounted easily, and a winter apron offers comfort in colder weather.
